The Association Mouvement Art Contemporain is created in October 1984 with the support of Mr Claude Wolff (Mayor of Chamalières) and his municipality and thanks to the dynamism of Slobo (Painter).
In the 80’s the official policy of Arts imposes the Art of  “avant-garde” as contemporary. Then a important number of artists remains out of the official movement.
All have estimated that there was nomore beautiful gift than giving a "Cultural forum" to the town based on Visual arts. A "Cultural forum" with a influence which is beyond regional and national frontiers.

Fame of the A.M.A.C. and its influence is always growing. First the Ministry for Culture and various regional and national official organizations are interested more and more in the action of Association and its achievements. In addition the number of members and sponsors is also growing and this makes possible to the A.M.A.C. to extend its activities. Finally the media contribute - with the regional and international daily newspapers, with the specialized press or with the radio - to promote the association to creators, collectors and art critics....
